The sports writer from the Reporter took pics of me and Steve at the meet last Thursday and he called me today and asked me some questions. He says they are going to do a feature on swimming. It will probably be in the paper next Wednesday, so look for it! I will post it here too.

YES!!!
I dropped over a second in the 100 breast to make the state cut. I swam a 1:04:24 this afternoon. The exciting thing is that I was sort of sick today and I have a long list of things I did wrong, so there is lots of room to improve. If I drop 3:75 seconds I will have an All American Consideration time. Anyway,  I also got first place in the 50 free with a time of 23:82.

Let me vent.....

Stanford is "unable to offer" me admission and they  "wish that they had room for everyone with talent and energy like mine." Even though I "meet the distinguished academic achievement and potential" they had to make "a difficult decision" and tell me that "other schools will be delighted to offer me a place in their freshman class." Not that I didn't know that already.

I would have really enjoyed going to Stanford, but I guess it just wasn't in the cards for me. I will most likely attend the University of Washington's honors program next fall with most of the other students from my class. At least I can stop thinking about the long-term and get back to the now. Until then, peace.

Today was a holiday. The first day of ski bus. It was amazing. Even though the snow was a little thick, it was an epic day. The snow cover was low, so I ended up striking a few rocks. One even with my head, good thing I have a helmet. My new skis kick ass and I can haul with control. Anyway, I am wasted and so I plan on sleeping.

With 3 first places, I helped our team get its first win in 4 years against Sequim.

Well, the first ski bus got postponed because of lack of snow. So I stayed home and updated my page. I added a pic page about my 18th birthday party, and I added the rest of the pictures to 'A Day in the Life of Erik'

Erik dominates the 100 breaststroke! We had another home today against North.

1st place - 100 breast - 1:05:56   Almost the exact time I got last year at state competition. Which means I am on pace to go much faster this year. Just for comparison, the second place guy in the event got a 1:20

2nd place - 200 free - 2:05:20 a best time by 5 seconds

Well, last Monday, after school I noticed a big (18ft) hole in our pasture fence. I went to investigate and found that a truck had smashed through the fence, skidded across the entire field, and still had enough kinetic energy to knock down a tree at the other end. Well, the newspaper was kind enough to write a brief report about the incident. (click on it to see a bigger version)

We had our first home meet today. Results:

1st place - 100 free - 55.20 sec

2nd place - 50 free - 23.83 sec- a best time, less than second off state even though I had a crappy turn.

Last night Andrea and I had our birthday party. It was a lot of fun, it wasn't all crazy and wild, but it was nice. I will add pictures and captions from the party when I get them developed. I gave Andrea her picture I made, she loved it. Go to the artistic page in the junk section to look at it. Andrea gave me a really nice present. She made a web page with all kinds of photos, memories, and letters from friends. It is really sweet, it is one of the best presents I have ever gotten from a friend, it ranks right up there with the mannequin I got last year. I am kind of tired since the last people didn't leave until like 2am. So I think I will take a nap.

I am going to finally add the "a day in the life of Erik" page today. I will type a post here when I have added it. Oh, also. Andrea included in her present to me a poem I wrote for a her a few years ago. Now that I have re-read it I am very proud of it. Go read it in the poetic section.

Yesterday we had our first meet against Port Angeles. Our team hasn't won a meet in 4 years, and we didn't win yesterday. But that is beside the point.  I will tell you a little of how I did, since naturally this page is only about me and if you are reading this you care
     Coach put me in my most hated event, the 200 IM. However, somehow I managed to get a best time and first place. She also put me in my best event, 100 breast. I smoked the competition and got a 1:06:50, a very good start for the beginning of the season. My goal is to get below 1:04:4 in a regular season meet. We also got first in the 400 free relay.
     SUMMARY: Erik dominated the meet with three first places and a personal best.

note: I am know I am gloating, but it feels damn good.

Well, I had a very nice birthday yesterday. Steven, Jade, and Andrea came over. We went out to eat, made fun of some southerners, went to a hilarious comedy show, came back, ate some cake, made fun of southerners some more, and then we made some videos. Go check them out, they are pretty funny.

Today is my birthday. Hoorah, I am no longer a child, but I have yet to figure out if that is a good or bad thing. 

Let me tell you real quick what I have planned for my web site in the next few weeks. 

1. A photo essay about a day in the life of Erik  

2. If I make it into Stanford, I will make a page about me going to Stanford. I will also post my admission essay that I am very proud of.

3. I am asking for my own domain name, www.erikhenne.com for x-mas. So if anybody wants to get me a cool present, here is the perfect one.
