The final destination of my hitchhiking was the mountain resort town of
Tungpu where I did some more hiking.

The washed out roads made travel to this mountain village difficult. I
almost didn't think I could make it, but an Englishman helped me.

At a hostel at the top of a steep hill I got an entire hostel room to
myself and access to a hot spring for a measly 3 dollars. Business was
slow due to the damaged roads so I got a discount.

I'm not very capable of just sitting around. So the first thing I did upon
arriving was to do a short hike to a waterfall. I first had to cross this
foot suspension bridge.

And cross this washed out bridge (due to typhoon).

By the time I reached the fall I was so sweated up that I climbed onto
those rocks and stood in the cool mist of the fall with my shirt off.

The next day I got up a 4:30 for an early morning hike. I soon found this
was the best time of day to hike. No bug noises and cooler conditions.

It was another hike along the edge of a mountainside.

I crossed a number of small waterfalls. This one is at least 1000 feet to
the river below. I dropped rocks down the gulley and watched them bounce
and bounce. It was extravagant.

Some of the footbridges were decimated by the typhoon. The rock cliff goes
a good 2000 feet down.

Fortunately some hodgepodge repairs were made to make it passable.

The destination of my hike was this waterfall. A triple one. Another
waterfall is above these two out of the picture.

This waterfall here.

Here is another look at the meat of the waterfall.
