Supposedly the mountain roads of Taiwan are incredible. For me, the traveler who depends on public transportation, there was no way for me to explore the innards of Taiwan. After nearly a week in Taiwan I was so enamored by the friendliness of the locals that I stuck out my thumb and made my way across Taiwan with the help of friendly locals.

There were many picture worthy moments but I didn't take many because it made me feel kind of awkward.

At the top of the pass the elevation was 10,587 ft, the highest I have ever been.

A panorama picture at the top of the pass.
A picture I shot out of the moving car.

The rest stop at the top of the pass where my friendly driver bought me a hotdog and peach.

That is the 'highway' there cut into the mountain.
