Due to time constraints and money constraints it wasn't possible for me to join Heather in Paris to go to Disneyland, so instead I went to Salzburg, Austria to do some hiking and to see what it was like to be Mozart. I left early early Saturday morning, hiked all day Saturday. Spent the night in a hostel, hiked in the morning on Sunday, and then explored the down town and went to Mozart's house to see his piano and stuff.

After hiking for 40 minutes I broke out of the woods to see the mountain that I was to climb.

The path was steep and snow covered, so progress was slow.

Even though it was a little hazy, there was a glorious view from the top.

Here is a zoomed in pic from up above. The part of Salzburg that has all the cool old stuff is between that smaller mountain on the right and the cliff band on the left. I walked over that smaller mountain (including another small mountain) on the way back to downtown Salzburg. Notice the castle on the cliff band, there will be more pics of that later.

This guy went and jumped off the mountain that I had just climbed.

Fortunately he didn't fall. He is hang gliding. I want to take up paragliding, which is a little different.

On the way back I passed a herd of sheep. This little lamb was jumping around real funny so I watched him for a while. He reminds me of the lambs that we had in our field, that we slaughtered and ate.

From way on the other side of the Salzburg valley, the mountain I hiked. That little snow patch at the top is where the hang glider jumped off.

Parts of 'The Sound of Music' were filmed at this palace. My mountain is still in the background.

I hiked that cliff band I mentioned earlier. Here is old town Salzburg, followed by one mountain I hiked, followed by the other.

Another view from the cliffs. The old town and the castle.

Mozart is from Salzburg so it would makes sense that they would have a statue of him in Mozart Square.

Another square with a giant chess board and a castle above. (A string quartet behind me is playing Mozart music)
