WANDER OF EUROPE |

Premise of the
trip:
Last summer (it was
the end of my junior year of high school in the 2000) I decided I wanted do
something adventurous after graduating high school and before heading off to
the university to become a learned man. After much thought I decided a backpack
trip around Europe would be perfect.
I have been to Germany several times. But never to tour around like a normal tourist. Every time I've been to Europe it has been to visit relatives, just a regular trip to visit grandma, you know. So the summer of 2001 I wandered around Europe without relatives in my own special way; everything I did was at the mercy of my whim. Initially, and ideally I wanted to have a guy friend and two girls to accompany me on the trip. A symmetrical, easy traveling group of four. Unfortunately, for various reasons, every one I asked couldn't, or didn't want to go on the trip. The only person able to join me on the trip was my best friend Jade Mikusek. I think it worked out for the best though, as a duo we were able to travel quickly and efficiently. Something truly outrageous happened every day and I always had my journal with me to document the entire experience. The entire text is what follows. Unfortunately, due to the size of my journal and my lack of time a few important steps have been left out in the creation of this text, namely: very little proof reading was done. I sincerely wish that the reader will be able to look through the numerous and obvious mechanical errors and find my voice to enjoy the journal like I enjoyed the trip. This journal is about the real world, about my real experiences, and about my real emotions. As a result some parts may not be rated G. My intention is not offend, but to provide the picture as I saw it. I hope this journal provides a little chuckle, some surprise, some sparks to recollections of your own adventure, or maybe just some inspiration to do a trip of your own. I would love to hear what you have to say about my trip and about trips of your own, or maybe you would just like to proofread it for me. ; ) Every page has a forward and back button and a list of numbers corresponding to a date in July since we spent the entire month of July abroad. Each page on the top left has a quick description of what happened that day. Feel free to read it in order exactly like I experienced it or jump around to your liking. Thanks for taking the time to read my journal, I put a lot of effort into creating it.
